چکیده

Background. Periventricular heterotopia is one of the causes intractable epilepsy. Different treatments this pathology show variable efficacy. Aim. To present result radiofrequency ablation periventricular in a patient with drug‑resistant Materials and methods. 33‑year‑old female has been suffering from epilepsy since age 19 frequent focal seizures (up to 70–80 times month) bilateral tonic‑clonic 4–6 year). In 2018 underwent resection right temporal lobe its medial structures partial located lateral ventricle. The frequency after 1 st surgical treatment increased till 150 per month, – up 3–4 month. After additional examination stereotaxic on side was performed 2019 Department Functional Neurosurgery Federal Neurosurgical Center (Novosibirsk). total 5 spots were made heterotopia. Follow‑up period 14 months. Right operation transient left‑sided hemiparesis developed 4 score MRC scale) which regressed by time discharge. During months follow‑up had 3 seizures, however, 2 nd did not appear. Conclusion. This clinical case demonstrates sufficient efficacy relative safety

Periventricular heterotopia.

A 34-year-old epilepsy woman had first seizure when aged 14. Seizure patterns are mainly simple partial type, presented by a sense of air within chest wall rising to head or focal twitching of right hand. She also had generalized tonicclonic seizures before. In recent four years, she did not experience generalized seizure although simple partial seizures were noted average four to five times a ...

Autosomal recessive form of periventricular heterotopia.

BACKGROUND Familial periventricular heterotopia (PH) represents a disorder of neuronal migration resulting in multiple gray matter nodules along the lateral ventricular walls. Prior studies have shown that mutations in the filamin A (FLNA) gene can cause PH through an X-linked dominant inheritance pattern. OBJECTIVE To classify cortical malformation syndromes associated with PH. METHODS Ana...

Periventricular heterotopia associated with chromosome 5p anomalies.

Periventricular heterotopia (PH) is characterized by neuronal nodules along the lateral ventricles. Whereas mutations in X-linked FLNA cause such cortical malformations, the authors report two cases of PH localizing to chromosome 5p. Both subjects have complex partial seizures. MRI demonstrated bilateral nodular PH, with subcortical heterotopia or focal gliosis. FISH identified a duplication of...

Periventricular nodular heterotopia and cardiovascular defects.

BACKGROUND Periventricular nodular heterotopia (PNH) is a rare congenital anomaly of the brain presenting as nodular heterotopia along the paraventricular region. Ten cases of PNH complicated by aortic aneurysm have been reported in the literature, and 9 of them also had symptoms of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). This study investigated the association of PNH and cardiovascular anomalies in Asia...

Periventricular nodular heterotopia with overlying polymicrogyria.

Polymicrogyria (PMG) and periventricular nodular heterotopia (PNH) are two developmental brain malformations that have been described independently in multiple syndromes. Clinically, they present with epilepsy and developmental handicaps in both children and adults. Here we describe their occurrence together as the two major findings in a group of at least three cortical malformation syndromes....
